How can you pick what you dream about?

My dad died 3 years ago today and I'm kinda down. My parents were divorced and me and my older sister lived with my mom in Nebraska while he moved to Chicago. I don't have many pictures of him and my mom doesn't like talking about him and I want to dream about the time we all went camping. Thanks in advance!
