Why is Abraham considered a good man?

Abraham was a person of great integrity. He followed God's commands even if they seemed distasteful. He had such faith in God that God could resurrect his son that he would willingly offer up Isaac as a sacrifice. His loyalty was rewarded by God and he became the father of a great nation. The account of Abraham offering up Isaac was a parallel account of what God did for us by giving up his only begotten son so that we might gain eternal life
