How does Abraham Lincoln show good leadership?

Lincoln, in choosing his cabinet, had people with differing opinions so he could choose the best answer to an important question. He spent hours each day at the telegraph office in the War Department so he could get hour by hour reports from that days battles. He had officers explain tactics and operations once a strategy was decided, so he could follow important parts of a battle once it was history. He also learned what it took to be a successful commander during the heat of battle. His choices for army commander improved greatly as the war progressed.
