Golf putting accuracy?

I'm starting to get into golf now, and sometimes I go to a course with friends or family. When im not at a course and im at my house, I grab the putter and putt a ping pong ball into a cup. Im alright at putting, but I would like to know if there are any techniques to putting with accuracy.
