Car won't start. What do you think? Probably Electrical.?
1993 Ford Escort wagon 3.9 I drove it through a good amount of water that had flooded part of a road a while back, didn't know it was there till it was too late. My car started puttering and beeper started going off and electric seat belts started doing like a shaking thing. for about two days beeper stayed on and car ran rough especially when i would give it much more then a slight increase in acceleration. then cleared up and seemed to be fine. I figured whatever was wet dried out. then about 5 or 6 days ago wouldn't ya know it it happened again. But water was higher and I was going faster. All of the same things happened except the puttering was worse and I couldn't barley get any power out of it before it would just miss like hell. when it would coast it would run fine but when i would hit the pedal much more then a touch or even to climb a slight hill, it would just putter. The next day it took a very long time to start and then while idling would stall. the following 2 days it was very hard to start each time. it would turn over but it was as if there was no spark or no gas one of the two. it wouldn't even rumble for a sec like it was trying to catch. just straight starter noise. Well finally it wouldn't start at all. I figured electrical because of the water i had hit. replaced coil pack wires and plugs and also flushed cylinders with the plugs out for a minute. all though nothing seemed to come out, and I heard that stuff shoots out high. so it still didn't start. So I checked the fuel pump. worked just fine. so I figured maybe the ignition control module. I pulled a plug, connected it to the wire, and turned over the engine. It had good spark. So now I am like what next. Spark, fuel and air why am I not getting combustion? I know the water had to have done something to it. It ran fine before the water. Which makes me think electrical still. But what? So I guess my question is, What do you think is wrong with it or what would you check after what I already said I did? Thank you.
